Gambling in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a spectacular city, incomparable to any other. Everything that you would expect from a world-class metropolis, and more, is right here for your pleasure. Of course, more than anything, Las Vegas is known for its casinos.

But they don't call Las Vegas "the entertainment capital of the world" for nothing. The most exciting, extravagant production shows call Las Vegas home. And Las Vegas spotlights some of the world's most famous entertainment personalities. This city is truly a 24-hour mecca of sights and sounds.

Accommodations in Vegas
All the excitement and color of the largest hotel - casinos in the world come alive on the Las Vegas Strip. Offering something for everyone, Las Vegas features resorts with erupting volcanoes, Egyptian pyramids, thrilling theme parks, roller coasters, and even the unmistakable New York skyline.

Games in Las Vegas Casinos
Las Vegas resorts offer the classic casino games of 21 (Blackjack), Slots, Craps, Keno, Bingo, Poker, Baccarat and Roulette. In addition, many casinos have Race and Sports Book wagering and some offer games from the orient such as Sic Bo, Pai Gow and Pai Gow Poker. Many of the resort casinos offer free gaming instruction. You must be 21 or over to participate in any of the lessons.

You should also be aware that although the basics are the same, some games and rules might vary from casino to casino. If you have any questions or require further instruction, do not hesitate to ask a dealer or casino supervisor for assistance.

Las Vegas Blackjack Rules
Las Vegas Strip Rules: Dealer must draw to all totals of 16 or less and stand on all totals of 17 to 21. Players may double down on any initial hand and split any pair. Pairs may be re-split and drawn to like an initial hand, except for Aces. Players get only 1 card on each of the split aces. Doubling after a split is not always permitted. Blackjacks pay 1 1/2 to 1 and insurance on a dealer Ace pays 2 to 1.
Downtown Las Vegas Rules: These are the same as the above LV Strip rules except that the dealer must draw to a soft 17.
Northern Nevada Rules: Dealer must draw to all totals of 16 or less and stand on all totals of 17 to 21, except for a soft 17, which he must hit. Players may double down with 10 and 11 (only) and split any pair. Pairs may be re-split and drawn to like an initial hand except for Aces. Players get only 1 card on each of the split aces. Doubling down after a split is not always permitted. Blackjacks pay 1 1/2 to 1 and insurance on a dealer Ace pays 2 to 1.

Las Vegas Poker
Poker is America's best-known and most popular card game. This exciting game is played each day in almost every casino in Las Vegas.

Poker is played with one deck of playing cards and dealt only by professional dealers. Games featured include: Seven Card Stud, Texas Hold-em, Seven Card Stud High-Low Split, Razz and Omaha High-Low Split. The games, the limits and the amount of rake (house commission) are clearly posted in the poker area.

Las Vegas is also famous for the number of poker tournaments, which are held at many casinos throughout the year.
